I guess it all depends on how you define "FREE TRADE". Is "FREE TRADE" where one country manipulates it currency? Is "FREE TRADE" when one country exports over one billion dollars more a day to your country than your country exports to them? Or, is "FREE TRADE" where one country undercuts the price of a product (i.e. steel) and is even willing to sell it at a loss in order to gain the market. Sorry but I am with the Democrats on this issue. While my politcs are very conservative, this is one of the areas where I have great disagreement with most republican leaders. I don't necessarily believe that these Democrats are against "FRRE TRADE" - I believe they may be more concerned about "FAIR TRADE". Now, if a true "FAIR TRADE" and "FREE TRADE" bill is offered -- I will be all for it!

We have heard the news that an American hostage and Italian hostage were killed in a drone attack in January and the President just spoke to the American people about the accident. The President or our military should not be blamed for this collateral damage. Somehow the American people have been duped into believing that you can fight a totally clean war withourt collateral damage. Unfortunately war is ugly and many times the innocent die with the guilty. Of course, whenever that happens it is a tragedy. I have been listening to CNN's coverage of this event and to be very honest I have lost any respect that I once had for their news coverage. Their news coverage is filled with sensationalism and hype! While listening to them, you would have thought that 50,000 innocent Americans were killed in this attack. The CNN newscasters are using words like most horrible tragedy, terrible - terrible tragedy. horrific event, dramatic, etc. Not only do they use these hyped up words and expression, they are broadcasting a constant barrage of this all morning.

It is interesting that this same news service just casually announced and covered the innocent beheadings and shooting of Christians by militant Islamists because they would not convert to Christianity.

If we are going to be so caught up and worried about any collateral damage as a result of any military action, then we better destroy all our military weapons and discharge all our military personnel and give up the fight or any other military action in the future. Come on people - it is impossible to fight a war - no matter how limited, without mistakes and collateral damage.

Actually, the drone attack was successful in destroying Al Qaeda terrorists and the President and our military should be congratulated instead of being condemned.

Again CNN is emphasizing all day long of how awful these drone str

Does anyone remember a syndicated Radio Drama program that aired during Holy Week on a number of radio stations? I think it was called "The Greatest Week In History". It was a faux news program that attempted to make you feel like you were listening to actual news broadcasts and radio news reporters from the Jerusalem Broadcasting Corporation reporting on the events surrounding Jesus and the Jerusalem area from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday. Each day during Holy Week different newscasts were aired dealing with the events that happened on that particular day of Holy Week. The show only lasted about 5 - 10 minutes but was quite interesting. I do not know if it is still aired or not, but I don't ever hear it anymore.

Thanks for sharing this. I find it quite interesting. Growing up in a family with Pennsylvania Dutch influence, we used onions to combat the Flu virus. When winter would come, my grandparents and parents would slice  onions in half and place them on the windowsills all around the house. It was believed that the onions would absob the virus and kill it. When I got older I dismissed this as an old wive's tale but in recent years we have had a barrage of information indicating that the onion does have some anti viral and healing qualities. Did anyone else have a family that used sliced onions to combat the Flu?

Neat pictures - thanks for sharing. I wonder how others celebrate Holy week here in the U.S. or York, PA. When I attended the Moravian Church in York we had church every night of the week and read from a small booklet called the Passion Week Manual. Each night we would read the scriptures that pertained to that particular day of Holy Week in the life of Christ. Of course the highlight of the week was the Communion Service "Maundy Thursday". Good Friday Services followed at 2:00 pm on Friday. In those days if you worked downtown and wanted to attend a Good Friday service, all employers would allow you to take off an hour or so, to attend the services. I remember the service as a kind of sad service. The service was scheduled to coincide with the time of day when Jesus died on the cross. At approximately 3:00 pm the custodian of the church tolled the old church bell 33 times symbolizing the 33 years of Jesus's life.

Saturday night the Boy Scouts camped in the church and got up at about 4:00 am Easter Sunday morning and went out to the Prospect Hill Cemetery long before daylight to direct traffic to the old Moravian burial plots where an Easter Dawn Graveside service was held. I remember the first time I did this I was in sixth grade and I was stationed at one of the crossroads in the cemetery all alone -- I was frightened and sang "Jesus Loves Me" quite a few times. At the conclusion of the service, everyone returned to the church for a wonderful Easter breakfast. The Easter Sunday service was very special. Holy week ended on Easter Sunday night with a special service. The youth of the church would do an Easter Pageant with special music, realistic scenery and wonderful costumes.

I am also old enough to remember that everyone no matter how poor, tried to get a new Easter outfit. Girls would buy a new dress and shoes and guys would try to get a new suit or sportcoat.

Does anyone else have Holy Week memories?
