The husband of a relative who lives in Mt. Wolf said an eagle flew very low directly over his head when he was out shoveling snow last week. Now that's close!

Gold finches come and go. I thinks sometimes if there are enough feeders in a neighborhood and the pickins' are better elsewhere they'll go there for awhile then return to your feeder for awhile.

I'll continue with tomatoes, banana peppers, lettuces, onions and maybe something else.
I must continue my battle with moss along the edges of the lawn. I've gone thru all of the usual remedies but nothing is working and I'm running out of ideas. Open to suggestions.

I do not understand the reasons for these killings! Nor do I understand why no one seems to be serious in stopping them. With the manpower, fighting power the U. S. & its allies have why has no one eliminated ISIS by now? Or are a few killings insuffucient to act?

Pretty much all the same birds at the feeders. I no longer have a tree to hang feeders from. I found a curved one for fence posts, placed it on a post and tightened it down so it doesn't move and filled it with black sunflower seeds which always attracted bigger birds in the past. Still waiting to see the first bird of any size at it! I've thrown smaller seed on the ground which is attracting all sorts of birds.

All Things Tech » Tax Software » 2/02/2015 11:28 pm |
Both my state & federal are already filed. State is done on PA's free online ezfile. As for federal--problems. Last year I filed federal for free with H & R Block, no problems. Went back to Block this year and ran into multiple problems, including now having to pay.
The "free" companies on irs.gov are free only if you are filing 1040EZ--you are not itemizing and I itemize. Othwerwise, it's paying for the service. Block's software has so many glitches and their customer service is absolutely the worst. I was left talking to ninnies! Promised a return call in 24-48 hours! Never came. I ended up paying TaxACT $15.00 and had no problems, never had to ask for help. There is still a pending charge on a credit card from Block and if it goes thru I'll contest it with the cc company who I spoke to about it. I came close to doing it the old way on paper forms but I've been doing my taxes on line since it first started years ago and I really didn't want to go back to that. As for TurboTax--that's who I started out with years ago and continued with them online until they made too many changes in their software. Frankly, I think the irs.gov for tax filiers has become a racket for these companies.
DIY Home and Auto Repair » Propane V. Electric Water Heater » 2/02/2015 11:11 pm |
Last year I had to replace my electric water heater--for the second time in 11 years. Not paying attention to what I was selecting to buy I ended up with a 50 gallon tank, far more than I'd ever need for a one-person hh. But it hasn't increased my electric bill any because the newer ones are more efficient. I also selected a cheaper electric rate vs what PPL charges. From what I've learned the tankless water heaters may or may not provided sufficient hot water exactly when needed plus the cost of a unit is much higher than a tank heater. For some that's not an issue. I would not go under a 40 gallon tank though if it's your only source of hot water.

Giving it a try. No guarantee though.
