There always seems to be an initial groundswell of public officials offering "thoughts and prayers" to victims' families and friends after a tragedy such as this. The reason for that limited, after-the-fact, reactive response is because that is the only thing they can offer due to the fact that they have proven inept and unwilling to work together proactively to produce viable plans that may prevent these mass spree shootings.
