What, in that piece, is most bothersome to me is that the press has no other options. I don't believe this at all and have to wonder where are the investigative reporters like Woodward & Bernstein, Mike Wallace, some of the old Sixty Minutes guys? Are there none? Is or has the media just rolled over and is playing it is no longer worth it? I never did like Chuck--too wishy-washy so he's a poor of an excuse go-get- 'em. Surely there is one/some go-getters out there.

Good points, flowergirl, but in situations like these that seem seem to have no rational answers, I always fall back on my long held opinion, and that is: FOLLOW THE MONEY.
It may take some work to connect the dots, but when media outlets are funded and fueled by for-profit corporations looking to protect their own interests and connected (or owned) by other business interests doing the same thing, objective reporting can affect the bottomline. As a side note, when I want straight news, I turn to Reuters, the BBC, and sometimes Al-Jazeera.
