The Two Carsons

Ben Carson 2015

Carson slams reporters over questions about his past

Ben Carson spent much of Friday aggressively rebutting media reports about his past -- a striking departure from the mellow personality he has displayed on the campaign trail.

"There is a desperation on behalf of some to try to find ways to tarnish me because they've been looking through everything, they have been talking to everybody I've ever known, everybody I've ever seen," Carson told reporters at a media availability in Florida.

Reston and Glover repeatedly approached the Carson campaign during their reporting and again before publication of the story. But the campaign staff declined to comment or to assist them in locating classmates or victims of violence who could provide insights about Carson's past.

"This is a bunch of lies, that is what it is," Carson told Alisyn Camerota when she asked about the report by Glover and Reston in which they spoke to people Carson grew up with. "This is a bunch of lies attempting to say I'm lying about my history. I think it's pathetic, and basically what the media does is they try to get you distracted."

Ben Carson 2014
Ben Carson to Obama: Come clean on 'secret' past

World-famous neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson, a rising star among Republicans, says President Obama should be more open with his records, including documentation that could show he applied for financial aid as a foreign student.
,,,,,,,,,
Now he's speaking out on the issue of Obama's eligibility.

In an interview on Alan Colmes' Fox News radio show, the left-leaning Colmes suggested that it was racism against a black president that caused people to doubt his origins.

Bunk, asserted Carson.

"Has there been anybody else who has had a shroud of secrecy around their records like this?" Carson asked.

He told Colmes he didn't personally challenge Obama's claim of being born in Hawaii, but he insisted Obama needs to be more transparent.

Colmes retorted: "I never heard of a president before questioned about his birth certificate, being treated as if he was a foreign, 'not one of us,' 'he's a secret Muslim.'
,,,,,

Carson replied that the "best way to put that to rest is expose everything, including your academic records."

"Let us know, you know, where did you apply – when you applied to Columbia, from where were you applying?"

Re: The Two Carsons

New story this morning about a potential Carson life-story fabrication. It's behind the Wall Street Journal's firewall, but here's the crux of it. The Carson story just keeps getting weirder.

I think you're going to see a lot of different United States of America over the next three, four, or eight years. - President Donald J. Trump

Re: The Two Carsons

From that same article:

The day after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was killed in 1968, Ben Carson’s black classmates unleashed their anger and grief on white students who were a minority at Detroit’s Southwestern High.

Mr. Carson, then a junior with a key to a biology lab where he worked part time, told The Wall Street Journal last month that he protected a few white students from the attacks by hiding them there.

It is a dramatic account of courage and kindness, and it couldn’t be confirmed in interviews with a half-dozen of Mr. Carson’s classmates and his high school physics teacher. The students all remembered the riot. None recalled hearing about white students hiding in the biology lab, and Mr. Carson couldn’t remember any names of those he sheltered.

“It may have happened, but I didn’t see it myself or hear about it,” said Gregory Vartanian, a white classmate of Mr. Carson’s who served in the ROTC with Mr. Carson and is now a retired U.S. Marshal.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
In books and speeches, Mr. Carson has said he hated living in poverty, vowed to grow rich, and lashed out in anger at others until a religious transformation at age 14.

When CNN sent reporters to his former neighborhood in Detroit to verify Mr. Carson’s stories of violence, including attempting to stab a boy in the stomach, none who knew Mr. Carson as a youth recalled any such trouble. Instead, most of Mr. Carson’s former friends and neighbors remember him much as he is today: soft-spoken and studious.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Last month, Mr. Carson said in a radio interview that, as a young doctor, he had a gun stuck in his ribs at a Popeye’s restaurant in Baltimore near Johns Hopkins University. “A guy comes in and puts a gun in my ribs. And I just said, ‘I believe that you want the guy behind the counter,’” Mr. Carson said. “He said, ‘Oh, okay.’” The Baltimore Police Department later said it couldn’t find a report matching the incident Mr. Carson described.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

In response to a question at a recent GOP presidential debate, Mr. Carson said he “didn’t have an involvement” with Mannatech Inc., a multilevel marketing company that sells nutritional supplements, and called any suggestion to the contrary “propaganda.” Mr. Carson, who has taken the company’s products, appeared in videos that could until recently be found on Mannatech’s website, including two filmed in 2013 and styled like commercials.

Mr. Carson also has given four paid speeches at Mannatech gatherings; the proceeds from three went to a Carson-affiliated charity. Mannatech settled false-advertising charges with Texas in 2009.

Re: The Two Carsons

Good thing Ben doesn't work for NBC news.

With all these revelations about his exaggerated fantasy past, he would be 'reassigned' to MSNBC.

Re: The Two Carsons

Carson seems pretty angry at the press.
I suggest they start buying big belt buckles. 😀

Re: The Two Carsons

I wouldn't be surprised if this guy has some kind of meltdown before the primary.

BTW, is his book, "Gifted Hands" sold in the fiction or non-fiction section of the bookstore?

Re: The Two Carsons

With the most recent revelations from Dr. Carson I think he's showing mental instability.

Re: The Two Carsons

Egads! As Alice would say, this keeps getting "curiouser and curiouser".

Carson looks more and more like someone who had a few bad trips in the 60's down in Haight-Ashbury.
Far out, man!
