Gee, Do ya think?

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair acknowledged the 2003 invasion of Iraq played a part in the rise of the Islamic State militant group, and apologized for some mistakes in planning the war, in an interview broadcast on Sunday.

Blair's decision to send troops to back the U.S.-led invasion is still a live political issue in Britain, where a six-year public inquiry into the conflict is yet to publish its findings. [ID:nL5N1113IL]

Asked whether the offensive was the principal cause of the rise of Islamic State, which now controls large areas of Iraq and neighboring Syria, Blair said there were "elements of truth" in that.

"Of course, you can't say that those of us who removed (former Iraqi dictator) Saddam (Hussein) in 2003 bear no responsibility for the situation in 2015," Blair told U.S. network CNN.

Re: Gee, Do ya think?

But . . . On the other hand . . .

Trump: World Would Be ‘100 Percent’ Better With Hussein and Gadaffi in Power

This morning in an interview with Jake Tapper, Donald Trump offered what might be the clearest vision a “Trumpist” foreign policy, a forthright endorsement of brutal dictators who keep order in their countries and keep Islamist terror groups in check. He said that under Saddam Hussein, “he would kill the terrorists immediately. Now it’s the Harvard of terrorism.”

TRUMP: Frankly, there is no Iraq, and there is no Libya. It’s all broken up, they have no control, nobody knows what’s going on.

TAPPER: The world would be better off with Saddam Hussein and Gaddafi in power?

TRUMP: 100 percent! 100 percent! Now as far as Assad is concerned-

TAPPER: What about the human rights abuses and-

TRUMP: You don’t think they’re happening now? They’re worse now than they ever were! People are getting their heads chopped off, they’re being drowned! Right now, they’re far worse than they ever were under Saddam Hussein or Gaddafi. Look what happened! Libya’s a catastrophe. You look at our ambassador as an example. Libya is a disaster. Iraq is a disaster. Syria is a disaster. And it all blew up around Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. It all blew up.

I repeat--God help us and the rest of the world if this man becomes president of the U. S.

Re: Gee, Do ya think?

Gaddafi was a problem.

Saddam should have been left to his on devices.  By removing him from power we handed that country over to terrorists.

If you make yourself miserable trying to make others happy that means everyone is miserable.
