For you trails bikers and hikers, this morning's Harrisburg Patriot News has an entire section on local trails and some trails in other sections of PA and MD, and interesting sights and visits to make along the trails.

I would add that joining the "Rails-to-Trails" organization is a great way to support the effort to open up more areas for hiking and biking. In addition for your 35 dollar membership fee, you can choose a beautiful guide to trails in the mid-Atlantic region.

Although not a biker or a hiker I do support the organization and wear their cool "Rails-to-Trails" tee shirt. I support them because of the good they are doing for the environment and making the trails available for one & all. I would love to walk a trail but a lone female--it's not going to happen.

I was on the York County Rail Trail Authority through the construction of the trail from the state line to downtown York.
Prior to construction it was such an embarasment for Maryland users to reach the border and be "greeted' by a "No Trespassing" sign.
I hope that the "northern extension" can soon be connected, at least to the downtown streets, and that the Hanover Trolley trail can become more than a series of unconnected segments.
