Who Knew?

Donald Trump on Saturday (September 20 PHT) responded to a question from CNN about whether Muslims pose a danger to the country, saying: "I love the Muslims. I think they're great people."

One student told Trump that she considered Muslim-Americans to be an important segment of the country. They asked whether the billionaire businessman would consider putting a Muslim in his Cabinet or on his ticket."Oh, absolutely," Trump responded. "No problem with that."

Re: Who Knew?

Wait till Sarah Palin hears she's gotta convert.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Re: Who Knew?

But, wait ............... we now have this:

Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson said he would not support a Muslim as President of the United States.

Responding to a question on "Meet the Press," the retired neurosurgeon said, "I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation. I absolutely would not agree with that."

So in a country that touts 'freedom of religion", we might need to amend that to "freedom of some religions".  I get it now.

Re: Who Knew?

Everyne says that they believe in respecting other religions.
Most only want unlimited freedom for their own religion.

I'd settle for a level playing field.

If school curriculum includes the Moslem statement of faith ("There is no god but Allah....") then it should also include the Jewish Shem'a ("Hear, O Israel....") and the Christian Nicene creed.

Do you seriously believe that christianity is at a disadvantage in this country?
I sure don't.
It's the sea we are all immersed in since birth. It's our culture

But, I have no problem with teaching comparative religions.

You realize that teaching the Muslim statement of faith is information, not an endorsement?

Re: Who Knew?

Comparative religion is what I have in mind.

There are a couple of places where the Islamic statement of faith is being taught AS INFORMATION, not as DEVOTION.

And if it is being presented as information then the other main religions' creeds should likewise be presented, as information.
