Sad Anniversary

On September 15, 1963, Addie Mae Collins, Cynthia Wesley, Carole Robertson, and Denise McNair were killed in the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. The bombing, an act of white supremacist terrorism, galvanized the Civil Rights Movement and garnered support for passing the Civil Rights Act of 1964. (Photo: AP)

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.
