Rupert Murdoch, purported to be one of the world's most scientific illiterate climate change deniers, paid 725 million for the beloved National Geographic. Once he gets his paws on publishing materials the magazine won't be worth the paper it's printed on.

Yea, makes me uneasy. It's such a great publication. I would hate to see it ruined.
One thing gives me hope. The patrons of NG are very interested in science. Murdoch would be stupid to alienate them. If they go away, I doubt Murdoch can replace them. I can't see NG in any form having much appeal for the science denying demographic that makes Fox News rich.
Maybe he will leave NG alone when it comes to content. He is, after all, a businessman.
I noted the irony during the world cup. Fox News makes one audience happy ranting about immigrants, and hating soccer because it's foreign. Meanwhile Fox Latino is grabbing another audience by offering great coverage of every soccer game.
Hey, the money's all the same color.
Maybe Murdoch serves the science deniers with Fox, and the smart crowd with NG. Then he has it all.
Wouldn't that be a kick in the head!
We'll see. If he turns it into an anti-science mouth piece I think Murdoch will ruin it and lose money

Aren't his sons taking over some of his business ventures? If he is the mogel I am thinking of and not confusing with someone else, the sons aren't as conservative and think a bit more modern, well-educated and open-minded from what I hear. Maybe they will let NG continue as it is.
