Yeah, I saw that too. It looked like the hitter literally picked the ball up from the dirt with the tip of the bat to hit it and out it sailed. I thought those metal bats were outlawed years ago.

I think that youth leagues embraced aluminum bats to save money. They don't break.
But the scientific evidence suggests a "trampoline" effect in which a ball comes off a metal bat at a much higher rate of speed.
Definitely a safety issue, as well as one that effects the game itself.
