Re: Something Seems Fishy About This

But they don't wish to hear anything that goes against their pre-programmed mentality.  Like for instance, to them there is no way possible that Michael Brown was a thug who brought his own fate upon himself.  They are loony, like the TEA party, like Sarah Palin.  I wouldn't give them the time of day.  They are not to be taken seriously.

There's a lot of that going around. I remember when Trayvon Martin was portrayed as a drug crazed thug who had it coming.

I remember when Freddie Gray was portrayed as a "thug" who probably rammed his own head against the police van hard enought to break his neck.

Oh yea, there is a lot of pre-programmed mentality around here.
So, don't listen.
I will.

You can listen if you want.  I'm just saying, if I were a serious presidential candidate, I wouldn't take them for anything more than the loony group that they are, and are proving themselves to be.

So, they are all loony.
How did you arrive at that conclusion?

Not all, just like not all TEA party movement people are loony, but the majority of the ones who get attention are.  The way they treated O'Malley and the way they treated Sanders proves it.

Re: Something Seems Fishy About This

Maybe they are just angry at the fact that many police departments have a race problem, and that young black males are 21 times more likely to be killed by a police officer than are white ones.

I'm willing to cut them some slack. I don't approve of how they treated Sanders and O'Malley, and I would tell them that, but I'm not going to write off the entire movement because of it.

I would urge presidential candidates to sit and talk with them,  just as they should listen to police advocates, pro-life, and pro-choice advocates, and so on. We all might learn something.

I don't disagree with that, but they have to come up with someone better than Michael Brown, or some other career criminal who brought it on themself as their poster boy.  That makes the whole movement illegitimate.

Freddie Gary?
Eric Garner?
Trayvon Martin?

First off, the police had nothing to do with Trayvon Martin being killed.  But, let's not pretend any of these three were upstanding citizens who didn't have their fates coming to them.  Maybe they should call it 'Thug Lives Matter'? This 'black lives matter' movement is one of the biggest jokes I've ever seen.  You can attempt to legitimetize it all you want, I guess we'll just have to disagree on this one.

Re: Something Seems Fishy About This

So, it seems to me that you are arguing that some people don't deserve due process, or any other constitutionally guarranteed right.

A 17 year old gets killed for walking around with skittles.
A man selling bootleg cigarettes gets killed with a chokehold that the police themselves banned.
A petty criminal shackled, cuffed, posing no threat to anyone gets his neck broken in police custody.

And you think they had it coming. No trial. No judge. No jury.
Petty criminals deserve to die.
That's one of the saddest things I've ever seen.
I'm appalled.

Thank god  black lives matter to someone.
They sure don't matter to you.
