Re: Eagles

Nothing but an empty nest in a tree swaying back & forth in the wind.

Re: Eagles

Yes, the nesting couple do have an egg and they are taking turns sitting on it. Is it normal for an eagle to hatch only one egg or could we expect another one or more? It is larger than I had expected.

Re: Eagles

Flowergirl, Thanks for the info, I just found this interesting article that says sometimes an eagle will lay a second egg 2 days after the first. -- so that would be about tomorrow - Monday February 16, 2015. The article also says that sometimes they have been known to lay three eggs. I will be anxiously watching. this is so neat. http://www.baldeagleinfo.com/eagle/eagle4.html

Re: Eagles

Watching this morning--it lifted up and only one egg could be seen.  It's very busy rearranging nesting materials, tucking it in under and around the body.

Re: Eagles

Oh dear.....they had an article in the paper where the male has not been around and is not feeding the female as she sits on the egg like eagles usually do.  The article said the female cannot be too long away from the egg or it will not be viable. Apparently it's unknown if anything happened to the male or if he just's just a deadbeat not taking care of his family.  The article said the chick will peep through the egg at the Mother and if she feels something is wrong she may discard the egg.

I don't have a good feeling about this guys.....

Re: Eagles

I watched it several times throughout the day and saw one egg at least once this afternoon.
