We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Re: Why Settle for President?

We've reached a tipping point in this country. Was it Limbaugh, Hannity? Was it asking Bill Clinton if it was boxers or briefs? Was it having two opposing political operatives scream at each other about climate change and imagining that it increased understanding?  I don't know.

But, I know this. We now utterly conflate entertainment and politics, routinely confuse celebrity with authority and regularly lose sight of the difference between a cult of personality and a claim to leadership.

And Donald Trump  is just the emblem of this decline.

He’s the show that we’ve asked for.
We think that leadersip is NOT bringing people together, it's calling them out and telling them off.

We think leadership is staing something boldly, whether it's true or not.

We think that the key to addressing complex problems is in offering simple, glib solutions.

Trump is us.
