Here we Go Again

Two dead, several wounded in a movie theater shooting.

Governor Bobby Jindal called for "Love", and "Prayers"
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-33647678

OK. Consider it done. I will pray.

But, Bobby, you are a governor. How about you do more than pray. How about you get together with other elected officials in your state, and nationwide to come up with strategies to decrease this violence.
Prayers along aren't going to cut it.

This is what Bobby said after the Chatanooga shooting.

"It’s time for the White House to wake up and tell the truth…and the truth is that Radical Islam is at war with us, and we must start by being honest about that. There have been many bad things that have happened under President Obama.   One that stands out to me was the horrible shooting at Ft. Hood…which was clearly an act of terrorism by a Radical Islamist. Yet the White House labeled that horrible act as ‘workplace violence.’ This is grotesque. You cannot defeat evil until you admit that it exists."

I will adapt those remarks for this occasion:

"It’s time for American politicians to wake up and tell the truth…and the truth is that guns in the hands of criminals and madmen are a danger to us, and we must start by being honest about that. There have been many bad things that have happened in the United States   One that stands out to me was the horrible shooting at  Sandy Hook, Columbine, Aurora, Virginai Tech,,…which are clearly an act of madness Yet the Republican Party labeled these horrible act as inevitable This is grotesque. You cannot defeat evil until you admit that it exists."

Re: Here we Go Again

I'm ready to throw the 2nd Amendment out the window and start all over again.  I'm re-thinking this whole 'right to bear arms' bullshit that was written when people were running around with flintlock rifles and single-shot pistols.

I was just listening to some a-hole telling me that if the people in the theater were armed, they could have prevented this tragedy.  Yeah, that's right, pal.  What we need is good ole fashion shoot outs in every home, movie theater, shopping mall, neighborhood, city street, church, subway, airport, school, etc. across America.  That'll put an end to gun violence.  I'm done with all of it.

Reports are that the first two victims were shot from behind and were sitting directly in front of him.
So, not only do you have to be armed, you have to have eyes in the back of your head.
The better question is, why on earth should someone have to consider arming themselves when they go watch a movie in this country? What a f*#ked up country.

Re: Here we Go Again

Here's an objective look at this 'gun violence' thing from England:

This week a lone shooter stalked into an American cinema and opened fire at random, killing two people and wounding seven before turning the gun on himself.

It is the latest in a string of massacres in the United States that has reignited the debate on gun control, with Obama admitting on Thursday that his government has failed to tackle the problem.

"If you look at the number of Americans killed since 9/11 by terrorism, it's less than 100. If you look at the number that have been killed by gun violence, it's in the tens of thousands," he told the BBC. "For us not to be able to resolve that issue has been something that is distressing."

Re: Here we Go Again

Here's another point. After Sandy Hook, the President called for better gun laws. He was accused of exploiting a tragedy for political gain. Disgusting!

But after a shooting in Tennesse Bobby Jindal can use that to score political points. There's that GOP double standard again.

That's a got piece, Fred.
Gun lovers like to say, "we don't have a gun problem, we have a crime problem".
However, the data doesn't support that. In other types of crime the US compares pretty well with other industrialized country. It is only in gun crimes that we are way off the charts.

But, nothing will change until we change.
When I saw the american people decide that they could bear the murder of 20 elementary school children at sandy Hook, I knew we had lost.
