CUCUMBER MARIANTED SALAD

CUCUMBER MARIANTED SALAD

2 large cucumbers PEELED and sliced thin
1 onion peeled and sliced thin
2/3 cup vinegar
6 Tablespoons sugar
Peel and slice vegetables.  Sprinkle with salt.  Mix and sugar/vinegar. Stir.
Chill in refrigertor for several hours.


Life is an Orthros.

Thanks Tarnation.  This is a good salad.  I like the sweet-sour taste of the vinegar and sugar mix.

What kind of vinegar do you use?


We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Generally white vinegar but apple cider works well, too.

That is a basic Pennsylvania Dutch "sweet and sour" dressing which can also be used with finely chopped cabbage for sweet & sour cole slaw or a potpourri of vegetables for chow-chow.

I used to try to figure out how they made the chow chow from the Dutch Days Supper in Jefferson.  It had such a nice flavor.  I think they may have used rice vinegar in theirs.
