Fun With Science

After Nobel laureate Tim Hunt, 77, spoke at the World Conference of Science Journalists about his “trouble with girls” in the lab, he was swiftly criticized by international media outlets, the Royal Society, as well as the University College London where he holds an honorary professorship.

“Let me tell you about my trouble with girls,” he said. “Three things happen when they are in the lab… you fall in love with them, they fall in love with you and when you criticize them, they cry.”

After defending his own remarks in an interview with the BBC, he has resigned from his post at UCL.

Twitter responded with #DistractinglySexy (started by Vagenda Magazine), which perfectly skewers Hunt’s asinine comments:

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.
