Texas cops bust up pool party, but check out that totally wicked (and unnecessary) barrel roll at 0:15! This cop, who now thankfully has resigned, must have thought he was filming a Hollywood action movie.

That whole scene was bizarre.

Absolutely. I can actually make the case that the only thing that cop did correctly in that video was draw his gun on the teens who rushed at him, one of whom reached behind his back. Any properly trained cop would have done that. The rest of that cop's actions though, from his foul language to throwing that girl to the ground and pinning her down with his knees (which prompted those two teens to rush at the cop in the first place), horribly wrong! And that barrel roll! Any cop who actually does that in real life in that situation, right off the bat you know they have no business being a cop. At least he manned up and resigned.

The video was very damning, but as always there is more to the whole thing than a short clip, but I think that the cop did the right thing in resigning. There are reports that he had been involved in two suicide attempts earlier and was emotional about them and that played a role. Unfortunately cops aren't allowed that luxury while on duty that many of us are all the time. That said, I do agree that they DO need to keep that under wraps while on duty.
I have said it over and over, I am glad I am not a cop.

When he pulls his gun, two other cops show up and put their hands on his shoulders, like "dude, calm down".
It's not a job everyone can do. It's not a job that I could do.

I think there was bad behavior all around. Thankfully, no one was killed.
I'm just glad those kids don't live in my neighborhood. Who taught 14 year olds to curse, confront, challenge and antagonize an adult authority figure like that? That is troubling in itself.
