Re: Understanding the situation in Iraq

While I do agree with much of John Stewart's assessments of the current situation and causes of what is happening in Iraq, the real bigger issue is the overall differences and vying for power of the various religious sects withing the entire region. Their hatred of the US is totally ecliped by their hatred and mistrust of one another. As long as there are powerful and/or dictatorial leaders of countries in the area the genie was kept in the bottle. With the toppling of Sadaam and the Arab Springs came a new renewal of the sectarian hatred and violonce we see today. Not sure we can put that genie back in the bottle. It will eventually work out, but many, many lives will pass in the meantime.
