Hopefully this process won’t take a long time to complete.
It makes no sense to wait for the Nov election to fill the seat
when there is a real need right now. Especially since he was
nominated on both the Republican and Democratic ballots
during the May 19 primary.
State Sen. Pat Vance makes move to nominate York County Solicitor Michael Flannelly to judgeship
Read the full story here:
Moves are in place for the possible appointment of York County Solicitor Michael Flannelly to one of the two county Court of Common Pleas vacant judgeships.State Senator Pat Vance, a Cumberland County Republican who represents a portion of York County, said she called Gov. Tom Wolf's office to ask that he appoint Flannelly to the bench because he was nominated on both the Republican and Democratic ballots during the May 19 primary.
The possibility was first brought up by Republican Committee of York County Chairman Alex Shorb following the primary. Wolf spokesman Jeff Sheridan on Thursday confirmed the administration received the message and they are "looking into it."Appointment is not unprecedented for York County. Both Judge Michael Bortner and Senior Judge John Chronister were appointed in the same way, said President Judge Stephen Linebaugh. Linebaugh said he will draft a letter to each of the senators representing the county to urge them to nominate Flannelly for the appointment."Everybody is working as hard as they can," Linebaugh said of the increased caseload. "We're bringing in senior judges to help keep up with the cases but we're really under the gun."He said that the four criminal court judges are doing the work of five judges with some help from senior judges — semi-retired jurists who work as needed — but family law is behind and Flannelly could be put to good use before the general election in November.

With the President Judge and the two other successful candidates in agreement, and a serious need for another Judge ASAP this nomination should be fast-tracked.
Then we'll get to see those green and white "Judge Flannelly" signs once again.
