Civil Rights Victory in Maine Constitutional Carry

Civil Rights Victory in Maine

http://www.pagunblog.com/

The Senate has passed Constitutional Carry 21-14.

It would still have to pass the house, but needless to say, this is a significant win for us. Maine would be the first New England state to pass Constitutional Carry (Vermont has always had it). That would put significant pressure on New Hampshire to get with the program! Let us hope that the House acts similarly.

Thinking of moving to Maine?

Re: Civil Rights Victory in Maine Constitutional Carry

I never heard the term "Constitutional Carry" before. In the event you don't know what it means....

In the United States, the term constitutional carry is a neologism for the legal carrying of handgun, either openly or concealed, without the requirement of a government permit.

I can't support this. You're telling me that any mental patient, criminal, gang member, wife abuser, or crack addict can walk around with a handgun no questions asked?

Sounds like a horrible idea.

Re: Civil Rights Victory in Maine Constitutional Carry

You can already carry a handgun in the open in Maine wth no permit.
And a permit is only $35 for four years.
So, what's the big deal?

Anybody have data on how many requests for permits are rejected each year, and for what reasons?
Anybody know what law enforcement thinks of this?

Re: Civil Rights Victory in Maine Constitutional Carry

Constitutionally then we should be able to carry a gun even into the US Senate !

Somehow, I don't think that they in all their desire to make sure EVERYONE can have a gun will allow it in their own house !

That is when the "us" is not "them" !

The "us" are the proponents of Constitutional Carry in Pennsylvania. Looking at thier website however, they are doubtful this would come to the commonwealth beacause there are enough Republicans in the legislature who think this is a bad idea.
