Santorum: Room for one more

The ever-expanding Republican presidential field continues to percolate. With a precision metalworks company as his backdrop, former Sen. Rick Santorum stepped out to announce his intentions late Wednesday afternoon, in a town 33 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

Seems like the cartoon is coming true.

They'll have to have the first debate in a stadium.

Re: Santorum: Room for one more

Is this about running for President or more for future speaking fees and possible cable contracts ?

I certainly agree that until the herd is thinned, it is going to be a real zoo at any debate that will be organized for the candiates. It should be better than the proverbial 3-ring circus.

Depends on the candidate. I think that Santorum and a few others are in this to raise their profile and get those things you mention.

Re: Santorum: Room for one more

I'll give Santorum credit for having a message that few other Republicans focus on. It's a populist, blue collar platform for people who feel they've been screwed over by globalism, outsourcing, and Wall Street largesse. Take away Santorum's social issue stuff (which you can't) and you have yourself a pitchfork populist who has proven in the past that he'll do the work to connect with voters.

He won't go anywhere of course, but I do think there is a place for him in the race.

His announcement speech was an interesting appeal to blue collar voters.
Pretty much at odds with the mainstream party.
Let's watch and see.
