After watching the President's remarks at the NRA, and the Vice President's praise of Joe Arpaio,,,,,
Does anyone here still believe that 'Economic Anxiety' explains the appeal of Trumpism?
Looks like culture and race to me.

Pretty much.
Now I am sure there were (and still are) some who thought that his promises of jobs coming back in their old industries WERE worried about their own economics, but the crowds at most rallies are not those people. Not sure what the people who voted on the promises of good jobs coming back think of him now (OR the other party for that matter).
In terms of WHAT the GOP USED to sand for, Trump and his Cabinet have destroyed most of those norms.
Those that just always vote one party will likely stand by the GOP no matter what, but I expect there are a lot of disenfranchised voters (and that likely holds true on both sides of the aisle). I expect the midterms will be a big loss for the GOP. The question is will the incoming reps be just more of the same or not. WE hold the keys to our future. Some of the things going on at present make me think our future may not be as bright as our past. I hope that is just me as an old codger talking rather than it being true.

From my perspective the underlying motivation for Trumpers is the fear that 'White Privilege' is being threatened. But, they won't admit to that.
