Politico is reporting that HOUSE REPUBLICANS will take up a balanced-budget amendment when they return from recess.
This follows on the heels of their $1.3-trillion budget bill which increased both defense and domestic spending and swells the deficit towards the $1 trillion mark.
What gives?
It’s almost election season, and the GOP thinks that it would be helpful if lawmakers could go home and be able to say they voted to support balancing the federal budget, even though they voted boosted discretionary spending by a ton, and have not touched entitlement spending, which, they have said for years, is the driver of U.S. budget deficits.
Vote for some meaningless, pie in the sky bill, and hope it makes your district forget that you voted for just the opposite in the real world.
They think that you are that stupid.
