We've seen this, it seems hundreds of times in the past two years.

Donald Trump Says - or Tweets - something outrageous, untrue, cruel, or just plain stupid.
A chorus of criticism, even rage ensues.
Then, at some point a Trump supporter weighs in. "I love Trump's Tweets. He makes liberals heads explode. Keep it up!"

Interesting. There was a time when we used different yardsticks to measure a politician's statements.
For example:
Is the statement true or a lie?
 Unifying or divisive?
 Logical or fanciful?
Gentile or crude?
Do they offer wisdom or folly?
Do they offer a realistic plan or just a rant.
Fair or libelous?

But, none of those criteria are used to weigh a Trump statement by his base.

The sole criteria for judging a Trump statement is how is it received by the enemy?

Does it enrage, cause them to melt down, seek their safe space, get triggered,,,, blah blah.
If it does, the statement is, by definition, a good one.
Is it true, or helpful? Who cares?

Reasoned discourse has been replaced by a sort of verbal gladiatorial spectacle.

It's been brewing for a while. Some say that Rush Limbaugh and AM radio invented this.
All I know is that it is destroying the republic.
