Donald Trump seems to view each presidential day as an episode in a television show in which he vanquishes rivals.

President Trump is ubiquitous — a leader who seems devoted to not only political but also cultural domination. Yes, his bottomless thirst for attention is abetted by broadcast and social media; many Americans are locked in a codependent relationship with this president.

How long can it last? Donald Trump has been THE news story for about 2 1/2 years now.
He had an urgent universal message, and people, whether they idolized or hated him, listened. Almost everything he said or did was chronicled.

But, can someone remain indefinitely at the center of controversy?   The public needs new thrills. And, the surprise, the drama, are gone.The public must eventually lose interest in Trump and his cause.  Donald Trump, at long last, has nothing to offer but more of the same.
Endlessly he relitigates the 2016 election, seemingly forgetting that he won.  He leads followers in the Lock her up chant, like an aging rock star singing an old song. The attacks on the press feel like reruns.  Gamely, yet unoriginally, he insults new villains on Twitter.
Predictably he overstates his accomplishments, and over promises for the future.

In 2018 will people finally have their fill of The Show?
Will the excess of attention Trump has enjoyed be the seed of his undoing?

Enthusiasm on one side, and outrage on the other, may be replaced with a universal weariness among all Americans.
