Steve Bannon has been down in Alabama playing a populist on TV. Yep, Steve's been telling the good folk in Alabama how it is. Populist Steve, from Harvard, Georgetown, and Goldman Sachs is telling Alabamians to reject outsiders who tell them how to vote.
But, Steve may have just stepped into Crimson Tide-sized trouble.
Stumping for embattled Republican Senate Roy Moore Monday night in Midland, Alabama, Breitbart News executive chairman Steve Bannon mocked MSNBC host Joe Scarborough by telling the crowd he went to much better schools - Georgetown and Harvard - than the former Florida Congressman.
The issue? Scarborough is a graduate of the University of Alabama - the largest university in the state his candidate wants to represent in the U.S. Senate. Moore himself attended the school, graduating from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1977.
It didn't take long for Scarborough, a frequent critic of Bannon, to respond, even referencing the Lynyrd Skynyrd classic "Sweet Home Alabama."

Hey Bannon, you only went to Harvard because you couldn't get into Alabama. #RollDamnTide …8:23 PM - Dec 11, 2017
Mocking southern schools for not being elite while you are pretending to be a populist?
Brilliant, Steve. Brilliant.
