That is the crux of the thing.

I don't know yet.  All I know is that there are like 4 Republicans officially running, and 1 Democrat officially running, and according to the majority of Americans, none of them should bother running because they don't have a chance.

I'm glad for you, Man.  Since I'm registered independent, I'm not allowed to particiapte in primaries in PA ( a sore spot for me, but that's for another topic starter), but we can't become apathetic and we have a responsibility in a democratic society to encourage others to participate in the the process or we get what we deserve.

BTW, you turning 18 in '96 and getting involved means you have more sense than I did 30 years before that when I turned 18.

For the record though, I never encourage people to not vote, in fact I always tell people that they should vote.  I just don't look down on them if they decide not to vote, and I think their opinions and/or complaints are just as valid even if they don't vote.

You don't have to listen to the majority,,,,,,,,,,
Things are only impossible until someone does them.

So, why bring them up?

Because we're talking about presidential candidates.  Why not bring them up?

Not a single vote has been cast. Don't give in to cynicism yet.

I haven't given in to anything.  There might even end up being a candidate that I like.  I'm just saying that every candidate who announces they are running, most of America (not me), blows them off right away, says 'they have no chance!', or 'they shouldn't run, they're a nut job!'

Truly, whomever gets the nomination of either party will face the same landscape; a huge part of the electorate will write them off at the outset. A huge part of the electorate will support them no matter what, and a small number will be persuadable.

It is what it is.

Personally I have NEVER felt all choices are equally horrible. I guess if I did I would not care to vote, but I find it hard to believe that you cannot pick one that at least at some level is better than the other. Assuming that one of the contestants IS going to win, you might as well try to decide which one.
