Al Franken apologizes after accusation he kissed and groped TV news anchor
US senator and former comedian Al Franken has issued an apology after being accused of kissing and groping a woman without her consent. Leeann Tweeden, a Los Angeles-based news anchor, came forward with the allegations in an op-ed published by KABC radio on Thursday that detailed an encounter with Franken during a tour of the Middle East to entertain US troops in 2006.
alleges that Franken, then a comedian and formerly of Saturday Night Live, forcibly kissed her while rehearsing for a skit and later groped her while she was asleep. She also shared a photo that appears to show Franken placing his hands over her breasts while posing for the camera.
Franken is facing re-election in Minnesota and has been named among possible Democratic contenders for president in 2020.

Fire up the ethics committee and have them get to the bottom of it. Could be a comedy sketch gone real bad for sure.

Resign or face discipline and possible expulsion by the Senate.

Franken actually asked the Ethics Committee to go ahead and investigate him.
Now I don't pretend that he is better than anyone else caught doing something inappropriate, but this suggests that at least he is open about it and willing to let it go where it may. I suspect that the Ethics Committee will pass on this, but who knows.
Somehow I don't think Roy Moore will be encouraging an Ethics Investigation in the same way.

Franken should resign.
Maybe that isn't a perfect response, but we have reached a watershed moment.
Time to show zero tolerance for abuse of women and girls.
I am NOT a puritan. I am not talking about judging people for consensual sex. That is between people, their spouses, and their God.
I am talking about harassment and assault.
Let the people see the difference between decent people and the defenders of Roy Moore and Donald Trump.

I think there is more to this story than what we are hearing, but we will just have to wait and see especially if Franken gets an Ethics Investigation.
