Really? How so?

President Donald Trump on Wednesday condemned an attack in New York City on Tuesday that left eight people dead and 11 injured as a “horrible act” committed by an “animal.”

At the opening of a meeting with his Cabinet, Trump called for “punishment that’s far quicker, and far greater, than the punishment these animals are getting right now.”

“They’ll go through court for years. At the end, who knows what happens,” Trump said.

"What we have right now is a joke, and it's a laughingstock. And no wonder so much of this stuff takes place."

Really?
This looks like a cheap attempt to fire up the base.
It's a familiar narrative; Liberal America is so obsessed with political correctness that we coddle terrorists. AND that a strong leaders is needed to straighten out these lax courts.

But, is it True?
Let's look at the record.

Well, we spent millions to hunt down and kill Bin Laden half a world away.

The four convicted in the First world Trade center bombing were captured and sentenced to 240 years in prison each.

Ramzi Yousef, the mastermind got life plus 240 years.

The surviving Boston marathon bomber was sentenced to death.

Timothy McVeigh was executed.

Terry Nichols got 161 life terms.

The only USS Cole bomber to fall into our hands is in Gitmo.

The San Bernardino shooters were killed in a shootout.

Richard Reid, the shoe bomber got 3 life terms plus 110 years in prison without parole.

In 1993 Mir Qazi killed three outside CIA headquarters in Washington. He was executed.

In 1994 Rashid Baz shot up a van of Jewish students on the Brooklyn bridge. He got 141 years.

1994 Paul Jennings hill murders a gynecologist and his body guard outside an abortion center. He was executed.

Eric Rudolph, the Olympic Park Bomber got 4 consecutive life sentences.

Naveed Afzal Haq shot up a Jewish community center in Seattle. He got life plus 120 years.

Best not to believe anything that this President says.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Here we go,,,,,,,,

Trump labels US justice system 'laughing stock'

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump called for "quick" and "strong" justice for terror suspects in the wake of the deadly New York City attack, saying that it is not surprising terror attacks happen because the way the United States punishes terrorists is "a laughing stock."

It ain't what you don't know that gets you. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.

Re: Really? How so?

I think the “joke” and the “laughingstock” regarding court actions that Donald was referring to is with the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. Specifically business filings under Chapter 11 to “reorganize”. Trump himself has become quite adept at this ploy in order to protect his assets, despite gross mismanagement, stiff his creditors, avoid paying vendors and employees alike, without disturbing his personal bank account.

As far as prosecuting terrorists or anyone else under the criminal code, Trump is in the dark. However, he may soon become enlightened to this code as Mueller continues his investigation.

Like many of his statements, it is meant for the sheeple. They will gladly accept it.

True. I expect that Trump will not pay a price for his false statements.
The narrative of the broken legal system and coddling terrorists is a powerful myth with the folks of his base.
They are ignorant of the facts and enthusiastic to remain so.
A steady diet of tough sounding nonsense is enough to sustain them. It feels good.

Re: Really? How so?

Well, I guess that the President got briefed, or saw something on TV.
Now he is tweeting that our "Laughing stock" legal system is actually better than military courts.

12 hours. Well, that's about the average lifespan of a Trump thought.
Even though it was bullshit, it sure did sound tough.
We've taken the loudmouth at the end of the bar and elected him President.

Would love to send the NYC terrorist to Guantanamo but statistically that process takes much longer than going through the Federal system...

...There is also something appropriate about keeping him in the home of the horrible crime he committed. Should move fast. DEATH PENALTY!
