People have good reason to view the media the way they do. We have seen time after time false stories being pushed. The media's outright attacks on President Trump have not helped them at all.
Poll: Majority says mainstream media publishes fake news
Nearly two-thirds of Americans say the mainstream press is full of fake news, a sentiment that is held by a majority of voters across the ideological spectrum.According to data from the latest Harvard-Harris poll, which was provided exclusively to The Hill, 65 percent of voters believe there is a lot of fake news in the mainstream media.

Several others have brought polls here which you have called "fake news', or reminded us that polls were wrong in 2016.
What is it about how this poll was conducted that makes you feel that it's credible ?

A good read on the subject. Just a little from the article.
OPINION | Americans don't trust the media, and for good reason
Firewalls that once strictly separated news from opinion have been replaced by hopelessly blurred lines. Once-forbidden practices such as editorializing within straight news reports, and the inclusion of opinions as if fact, are not only tolerated; they’re encouraged. We’ve exempted ourselves from the normal rules that used to govern us, and so the most egregious kinds of reporting errors are becoming more common.
Formerly well-respected news organizations and experienced national journalists are making the sorts of mistakes that aren’t tolerated in journalism schools. When their mistakes are corrected at all, it’s with little seeming regret. And the corrections never garner a circulation as wide as the original salacious narrative.Special interests understand this, as they peddle tasty bites of scandalous, dubious information, hoping one major news organization or popular blog will bite.
When fact errors are exposed, there are rarely any visible consequences for the offender. In fact, if anything, these figures often seem to gain more prominence. Colleagues cheer on the editorializing and misreporting, and management rewards it. Many news organizations have come to resemble the fact-starved blogs they once took pains to remain separate from.

Again, why do you find THIS poll credible?
Kind of a catch 22. If there is so much fake news around, maybe this is fake too.
What about the poll - other than it telling you what you already believe- is more credible than polls telling you what you don't believe?

Common, do you realize that if someone would confiscate Trump's twitter machine and hide it, much of this 'fake news' flap would fade away?
You are playing right into the hands of those who promote fascism : "Sometimes the media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives."
This was written by Lawrence Britt in 2003 after he researched the fascist states of Germany, Spain, Italy, Indonesia, and Chile and discovered things they all had in common. Can't you see what's happening here? Don't let your allegiance to the Republican party make you blind to what's been happening. Several Republican elected officials are beginning to speak out. DONALD TRUMP IS NOT A REPUBLICAN.

Trump is a moron and his verbal attacks on the media are ridiculous, but they are not fascist. The media is not government controlled and is not indirectly controlled by sympathetic media spokespeople. There are plenty of people in the media pointing out Trump's issues. If you are going to point to Breitbart, Fox News and the other far-right sites as being sympathetic to Trump, couldn't you then say the same thing about Obama with MSNBC and the far left websites?
Also, I would not rely on Laurence Britt as an expert on fascism, I would look to more seasoned political scientists who have written peer-reviewed papers and articles that are published in respected journals. Not someone who complies a list of points that can be used to describe just about any extreme political ideology, and by someone who wrote this list to help sell his book about how a right-wing politican took over the United States.

Sorry Brady, the trumpers display many qualities of fascism

I didn't say Trump didn't display some fascist tendencies, he clearly does.
I just used the quote Fred provided that is supposed to show Trump is a fascist because of media control and argued that he doesn't control the media, either directly or indirectly. I also pointed out Fred might want to refer to a more respected political scientists when he tries to define what fascism is.
From my prespective, when you say that Trump is being a fascist when there is no evidence of it, people will eventually tune you out and ignore you when you are accurately pointing out something that is fascist. Think of the fable "The Boy Who Cried Wolf"

A distinction without a difference.
Of course Trump does not have the power of past fascist dictators.
That does not mean that Trump does not have some of the beliefs and qualities of a fascist.
Trump may not "control" the media directly. But, he has made a great effort to discredit and destroy the press as a force here. And that most definitely harkens to fascism.
"Sympathetic media"
Like Fox and Breitbart?

By the way,,,,,,,,,
You failed to include this bit of data from the same poll.
Let's post it for the sake of intellectual honesty.
"However, the Harvard-Harris survey found that 60 percent of all voters believe Trump is treating the press unfairly. Only 48 percent said the media is treating Trump unfairly.
“Voters show concern about direct attacks on the media by the president even when they have questions about it,” Penn said."
