Will They Learn?

Both Senators from Texas, and a large proportion of the Texas House delegation voted against the Hurricane Sandy Relief bill. They cited the principle of fiscal responsibility, self reliance, limited government, and other conservative values as justification.

Now, they are in need, and calling for federal help..

I hope that the Congress swiftly passes a generous disaster aid bill for the people of Texas. I have nothing but love in my heart for them. I will urge my two Senators and my representative to vote for the bill.

And, I pray that my conservative countrymen will learn something.

"No man is an island entire of itself; every man
is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;
if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe
is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as
well as any manner of thy friends or of thine
own were; any man's death diminishes me,
because I am involved in mankind.
And therefore never send to know for whom
the bell tolls; it tolls for thee. "

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Re: Will They Learn?

Well said.

We ALL need to look out for each other especially when disaster strikes.
