Statues Outside of Buddhist Temple Vandalized

COLUMBIA, Pa. (AP) — Authorities are investigating after two statues outside of a Buddhist temple in Pennsylvania were vandalized.

Police said the word "idol" was spray painted last week on the statues outside of the temple in Columbia, about 14 miles (23 km) west of Lancaster.

Pennsylvania synagogue vandalized

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Police say a rock was thrown through a stained glass window of a northeast Philadelphia synagogue that has been repeatedly damaged by vandalism in recent months.

A police spokesman said the rock was apparently thrown through the yellow glass window at Temple Menorah Kenseth Chai Synagogue in the Tacony neighborhood sometime between 9:30 p.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. Monday.

The damaged window faces the side of the synagogue, and officials said a baseball-sized rock was found inside. There was no further damage to the building.

The synagogue, which has been on the site since 1925, also had windows shattered in December and January. Police opened an institutional vandalism investigation into the new damage.

Police: Migrant workers' camp vandalized

ST. THOMAS - Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an incident in which a migrant farm workers' camp was vandalized.

According to a state police spokesman, sometime between midnight on June 12 and 7 a.m. in June 14, someone forcibly entered a bunk house at Etter Orchards, 8926 Mountain Brook Road, and sprayed cans of shaving cream and two fire extinguishers in the area, and smashed a sink.

Jesus statue vandalized, hands broken off on Carlow University campus

The bigger-than-life-sized stone statue of Jesus Christ still is standing where he's been more than a hundred years at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Robinson Street on the Oakland campus of Carlow University.

But, a close look will reveal that something's not quite right.

Jesus, his arms uplifted as though he were conveying a blessing, has lost his hands.

Carlow spokesman Drew Wilson said that, sometime in the past couple of weeks or maybe even earlier, someone removed Christ's hands about 3 inches above each wrist.

More than 100 headstones damaged at Jewish cemetery in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA -- More than 100 headstones have been vandalized at a Jewish cemetery in Philadelphia, damage discovered less than a week after similar vandalism in Missouri, authorities said.

A man visiting the cemetery called police at 9:40 a.m. Sunday to report that three of his relatives’ headstones had been knocked over and damaged.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.
