Looks like constructing a budget wasn't as easy as he thought

Trump campaigned on telling voters how easy it was going to be to repeal Obamacare, build a wall to keep foreigners out, defeat Islamic extremism, pass tax reform, improve nationwide infrastructure, improve our economy, stimulate job growth and other projects. So far, he has failed to implement any of these programs and failed to craft and pass any effective legislation. He has said, now that he's in the Oval Office, that many of these issues are more complex and difficult than his campaign rhetoric let on to voters ignorant enough to buy into his sideshow barker routine of making America great again. Trump, apparently, was under the impression that signing executive orders actually accomplished something.

So, add one more disappointment to his growing list of things he promised in his campaign-- a balanced budget.

CBO: Trump's budget doesn't balance federal ledger

CBO: $2 trillion in mandatory spending program cuts

WASHINGTON (AP) — A new government analysis of President Donald Trump's budget plan says it wouldn't come close to balancing the federal ledger like the White House has promised.

Thursday's Congressional Budget Office report says that Trump's budget, if followed to the letter, would result in a $720 billion deficit at the end of 10 years instead of the slight surplus promised.

CBO said Trump's budget would reduce the deficit by a total of $3.3 trillion over 10 years instead of the $5.6 trillion deficit cut promised by the White House. The nonpartisan scorekeeper estimated that deficits in each of the coming 10 years will exceed the $585 billion in red ink posted last year.

CBO says that Trump relied on far too optimistic predictions of economic growth and that Trump's rosy projections are the chief reason his budget doesn't balance as promised.

"Nearly all of that (deficit) difference arises because the administration projects higher revenue projections — stemming mainly from a projection of faster economic growth," CBO said.

Trump's budget predicts that the U.S. economy will soon ramp up to annual growth in gross domestic product of 3 percent; CBO's long-term projections predict annual GDP growth averaging 1.9 percent.

Trump's May budget submission proposed jarring, politically unrealistic cuts to the social safety net for the poor and a swath of other domestic programs. Many of its recommendations were deemed dead on arrival and are being ignored by Republicans controlling Congress.

Health care and the budget were the worst picks to start with.

Why they did not lead with infrastructure spending is beyond me. It had general bipartisan support and would have created potentially a lot of good paying jobs and fixed a lot of our ailing infrastructure.

This governing thing is actually TOUGH !

Meanwhile, here in the Keystone State we have a "spending plan" without a revenue package to fund it.

Some say that we have a state budget but that is like calling an ox a bull.

Yeah, I wrote to both my state senator (Scott Wagner) and representative (Stan Saylor) to question how you devise a state constitutionally mandated balanced budget by only submitting a spending plan with no revenue portion.

Wagner said he completely agreed that this was wrong, but offered no reasoning for doing so other than blaming it on.a threatened veto by governor Wolf. He has yet to address the fact that Wolf did not sign the spending bill because the legislature did not prepare and submit (as required by the commonwealth's constitution) the revenue half of the budget, and, rather than completing their duties, legislators did nothing which allowed the spending bill to go into effect after a prescribed amount of time passed. Wagner said he's working diligently to rectify this situation. However, from my perspective, it's been a lot of talk with no action.

Saylor, keeping up his already established constituent correspondence, failed to respond.

The only thing this inaction is going to do is going to result in a further downgrade to the commonwealth's credit rating, make it more expensive for the government to borrow mone (according to the state treasurer's office, the government needs to borrow over $3 billion to meet expenses over the next couple of months), and ultimately lead to higher taxes to cover the higher interest rate for the borrowed expense money.

Our state legislators are totally self serving idiots . . . and we keep electing the same bozos and expect something different to happen. So, the voters are the enablers of this insanity.

We get the government we deserve.

Good for ;you, contacting the legislators.

Yes, we have the best government money can buy.

In the case of our Senator, the best government waste money can buy.

Emphasize whatever word you choose.
