Now, you can argue as to whether or not this is a big deal. (I think it is).
But whatever you think about Ivanka sitting in for the President, it is not "Very standard".
According to Michael McFaul, Stanford University professor of political science and former Ambassador to Russia;
"It has never happened that a son or daughter took the chair of a president at a major heads of state summit. Never."

It's actually 'very standard' if you view the presidency of a country as an extension of the family business.
