"An informed citizenry is at the heart of a dynamic democracy."
Thomas Jefferson
So, basically, we're screwed.
Unbelievable.
NPR Tweeted Declaration Of Independence, And Trump Supporters Flipped Out
They didn’t recognize the words and thought NPR was calling for revolution.
National Public Radio tweeted out the Declaration of Independence on Tuesday to mark the holiday, but not everyone got what they were doing.
Some supporters of Donald Trump didn’t recognize one of the nation’s founding documents and accused the broadcaster of inciting violence and even revolution.
Many of those comments have since been deleted and at least one user deleted an entire Twitter account.
But the tweets live on, some still posted online while others have been preserved in screen captures.
Here are some of those tweets and the reactions to them:
So, NPR is Calling for revolution. Interesting way to condone violence while trying to sound patriotic.
Propaganda! Is that all you know how? Try supporting a man who is wants to do something about the injustice in this country. #drainingthe swamp
@NPR Are you drunk? Your silly tweets make your state of mind questionable.
This is why you are going to get defunded
It looks like NPR has been hacked. Tweeting Crazy
Please stop. This is not right
Horsechit
NPR "Journalists". With a mission!
Trash
@NPR Seriously, this is the dumbest idea I have ever seen on twitter. Literally no one is going to read 5000 tweets about this trash.

Many of us have recognized the fact that a democracy of, by, and for the people cannot exist without an educated, informed citizenry. This piece speaks volumes.

This one really knocked me off my feet.
NPR was just carrying on a great American tradition.
Readings of the Declaration have been a feature of July 4th celebrations - picnics, rallies, parades - since, well, the founding.
Heck, I've been in Berkshire county about 10 years. Every July 4 we go to the village of Lenox for a picnic. Before they start serving the hot dogs there is a reading of the declaration by local celebs and big shots. Then we sing the national anthem (The REAL national anthem, not the MAGA song).
It's really quite moving. You rub elbows with your assemblymen, and state reps. Several times we've been honored to welcome the Governor.
Trumpers might want to acquaint themselves with the documents, history, and traditions of the republic they profess to love.
And, maybe, stop being angry all the time.

Unfortunately it only underscores the stupidity of the voting public.
