The liar in chief is back at it.
And the lies just get more brazen and divorced from reality.
Donald Trump has claimed that as a result of his super terrific awesomeness, European nations are "Pouring money" into NATO.
The only problem? It is isn't true.
Trump simply made it up.
There is no fund for money to pour into. NATO members simply promise to spend 2% of GDP on defense.
There is no fund.
And there is no new money for defense, and there will not be until the European nations do their yearly budgets - if then - just like we do here.
Trump claims defense money is pouring into NATO after speech
President Trump on Saturday claimed that money was "beginning to pour in" to NATO, just two days after he gave a speech scolding allies for not paying their fair share at the alliance's headquarters in Brussels.
"Many NATO countries have agreed to step up payments considerably, as they should. Money is beginning to pour in- NATO will be much stronger," Trump tweeted Saturday.
Trump's wording misrepresents how NATO is organized by suggesting that nations pay the alliance; each nation funds its own defense spending under the NATO umbrella. There is not a specific fund money would be pouring into.

Isn't there anyone within his inner circle that would pull him aside and say, "Time out Mr. President, how about you run whatever you're going say past us, and we will fact-check it for you first."

Why would they do that?
Facts don't matter anymore.
And concepts such as integrity & honesty are a punchline. Only suckers care about that.

They won't say anything because you've got a bunch of millionaires working for a billionaire, in appointed positions, making a pretty good salary and benefits (at taxpayer's expense) to subsidize their already substantial executive severance/retirement packages from their corporate jobs, make a lot of high placed contacts to sell influence to after they leave office, and they can wallow in the self importance in their current government positions.
If they want to keep all those bennies, they don't want to correct or piss off the big orange kahuna in any way, shape, or form.
Sooner or later though, from my perspective, these guys, who are not used to being subordinate to anyone, will get sick of Trump passing the blame and criticizing them for carrying out his "policies" that fail, and the resignation letters will start flowing into the Oval Office.
