Texas gov appears to joke about shooting reporters
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) on Friday appeared to joke about shooting reporters two days after a GOP House candidate in Montana was charged with assaulting a journalist.
Abbott showed off a target sheet to a group of reporters and photographers after signing a bill reducing licensing fees for handguns, according to the Texas Tribune’s Patrick Svitek.
“I’m gonna carry this around in case I see any reporters,” Abbott reportedly joked.

I wish that such nonsense was confined to the former Confederacy, Fred.
Sadly, there has been a generalized coarsening of the conservative movement that has caused them to abandon traditional conservative thought in favor of a creed that too often involves contempt for a free press, and dissent. And one that embraces violent imagery, and behavior.
We've descended a long way from the days of William F Buckley.
We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

And while the governor of Texas is in the news, why the hell not go with this:
AUSTIN – Gov. Greg Abbott on Friday signed a bill that decreases the fees for a license to carry a handgun into law.
Abbott signed Senate Bill 16 into law, which will cut the first-time license to carry a handgun fee from $140 to $40, and lowers the renewal fee from $70 to $40. In addition, Abbott’s office said SB 16 will waive the fess for peace officers and members of the Texas military forces.

How did someone so dense become governor?
Is this the same governor that had a photo shoot of himself manning a 50 caliber chain-gun on a C-130 gunship guarding the borders from unarmed, half starved, illegal immigrants?
If you make yourself miserable trying to make others happy that means everyone is miserable.
