Don't Impeach Trump. Yet

As the Trump administration unravels democrats and others are beginning to speak openly of impeachment.
Not so fast.
First of all, impeachment is incredibly unlikely while the republicans, led by the obsequious Paul Ryan are in control. So, it's early to fantasize.

But, let me offer a different vision. A quick end just gives us Mike Pence.  Watching the slow political death of Trump may be in our best interests (Assuming he doesn't blow up the world in the meantime.)

Trump won by promising badly needed change. He never meant it, of course. But perhaps, in his downfall we can come together and save this republic. Perhaps in two or four years people will wake up and there will be a lot fewer Paul Ryan or Mitch types on the Hill. Let Trump make a big crater. Perhaps people will discover that facts and expertise DO matter, and that bullshitting is not a way of governing. Perhaps they will realize that one has to have a plan beyond "burn it down".
Perhaps millions more will show up at the polls.

Perhaps democrats can win working class white men back into a big tent. Perhaps we will see leadership emerge from the grass roots to the state house to the white house.

I'm already seeing greater knowledge and commitment in the street.
I'm seeing the re-emergence of true investigative reporting from a media that frankly was just mailing it in the past year or so.

So, let Trump twist ever so slowly in the wind, let him take all of the sycophants in Congress and on Fox for that matter down with him,,,, and build a new and better future while we throw more of the bums out.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Re: Don't Impeach Trump. Yet

Given the majority in BOTH houses of Congress, it is highly unlikely that Trump would be brought up on impeachment charges.

However, as noted, his ability to get anything meaningful done at this moment has pretty much vaporized.

The thing is just about ALL of this is of Trump's own doing.

Even though republicans control both houses, in the end each representative and senator is most concerned with their own re-election. If they think Trump's ineptitude is going to have a negative effect on their personal political well being, and attacking Trump is their easiest way out, you never can tell what might happen.
