Washington Post: Trump shared classified info to Russians
(CNN)President Donald Trump shared highly classified information with the Russian foreign minister and Russian ambassador to the US in a White House meeting last week, according to The Washington Post.
The White House scrambled to respond to the report Monday night, issuing several statements before sending H.R. McMaster, Trump's national security adviser who participated in the meeting, out to speak with White House reporters.
"At no time were intelligence sources or methods discussed and the President did not disclose any military operations that weren't already publicly known," he said. "I was in the room. It didn't happen."
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said in a statement earlier Monday that Trump discussed a "broad range of subjects" with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Russian ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak.
"During President Trump's meeting with Foreign Minister Lavrov a broad range of subjects were discussed among which were common efforts and threats regarding counter-terrorism. During that exchange the nature of specific threats were discussed, but they did not discuss sources, methods or military operations," Tillerson, who was in the meeting, said in a statement provided by White House press secretary Sean Spicer.
Dina Powell, White House deputy national security adviser for strategy, who also attended the meeting, said: "This story is false. The President only discussed the common threats that both countries faced," in a statement provided by Spicer.
According to the Post, Trump described details to Lavrov and Kislyak about how ISIS hopes to use laptop computers as bombs on planes.
"I get great intel. I have people brief me on great intel every day," one official with knowledge told the Post described Trump as saying, before the President reportedly relayed specific intelligence.
CNN has yet to confirm the details of The Washington Post report.
H.R. McMaster had told the Post that Trump and the Russian officials discussed "common threats."
"The President and the foreign minister reviewed common threats from terrorist organizations to include threats to aviation," McMaster told The Washington Post. "At no time were any intelligence sources or methods discussed and no military operations were disclosed that were not already known publicly."

Even IF he didn't how dumb to you have to be (I already know the answer) to have a meeting with the Russians just hours after you fired Comey ? And to top it all they used him as the dupe with their photographer. I guess that answers just how dumb.

Remember, one of Trump's big attack lines during the campaign was that Hillary's treatment of classified information was disqualifying.
Karma is a real bitch.
Why is it a big deal? Some of our allies may decide that they can't trust the Americans with sensitive information and hold it back.
And Americans will die

Trump now says that he had 'every right' to tell the Russians.
Less than 24 hours ago he sent McMaster out to deny that it happened.
Trump outs another aide as being either an idiot or a liar.

I apologize in advance if I'm sharing "fake news" here but I'm like 99% sure I heard what I thought I heard...
McMaster just came out for a press briefing, and at the very end said something to the effect of Trump didn't even know the source of the classified information he shared with the Russians.
In short, he repeated something he heard from somewhere, that was critically sensitive.
I always tell my daughter "think you before you speak." It sure sounds like our Commander In Chief doesn't, but that's certainly not breaking news.

You heard correctly. I heard it too and had the same reaction.
I wonder IF McMaster realized just how stupid that sounded. It certainly did NOT help Trump with this latest mess.

Yea, McMaster sure didn't help Donald.
Made him look even more inept, I think

Every time I think the Trump Administration can't get anymore bizarre, or inept, or dangerous, they pull a new rabbit out of their hats.
And you know, there hasn't been one crisis in the Trump White House that wasn't of his own making.
What's going to happen when there is a legitimate emergency where American lives and interests are at stake?

Trump's colossal ineptitude has protected us from his authoritarian tendencies thus far.
But, the thought of a genuine crisis like North Korea boiling over, and I am deeply fearful.
The man has no aptitude for, or understanding of, the office he holds.

NOT TO FEAR - the Russians have transcripts from the meeting (perhaps from the listening devices they have in the WH that Trump was referring to )
Putin offers transcript of Trump meeting with Lavrov
Can this get any more screwed up than what it already is ? My guess is YES !
