Republican Ron Estes wins Kansas special House election

This is the seat left open after Mike Pompeo was nominated to be the CIA Director.   Our Revolution a progressive grassroots organizations that backed Sanders in the 2016 primary was heavily involved in trying to unset the republican. The race was closer than most though it would be but in the end the GOP held the seat.
I think the next special election is April 18th in Georgia. Then The top 2 vote getters will face off in a June 20th runoff.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Republicans survived an election scare on Tuesday and won a Kansas House seat in the first congressional election since President Donald Trump’s victory, but the margin was much narrower than expected in a district that had voted overwhelmingly for Trump in November.Republican state Treasurer Ron Estes, 60, will represent the Kansas 4th congressional district replacing Mike Pompeo, who Trump named as CIA director.

A real feather in the R-Tribe's bonnet I suppose  What policies that he championed and/or positions on issues do you find especially appealing?

Re: Republican Ron Estes wins Kansas special House election

Well, a win is a win.

Some interesting numbers, though.

Estes won by 6.8 points in a district that just last November went for Republican Mike Pompeo by 31 points, and that Donald Trump carried by 27 points.*

So, is Estes a rather weak candidate, or is there something afoot in the body politic?

You can try to blame it on Our Revolution (and indulge in the myth of the outside agitators), but the fact is, the same district voted in November 2016, and just now with very different vote totals.

It's no myth they were there and the republicans WON!   The media and the left are very very disappointed in the results.

It's the same district, and the same voters who went for Pompeo by 31 point less than six months ago.
Hey, if you want to stick your head in the sand and believe in comforting myths, by all means do so.

It is foretelling of a likely bad time down the road for the GOP unless Trump can turn "promises" into reality and so far most of them have come to nothing.

Common is right.  In a team sport competition, a win is a win no matter the final score.  That's politics today for some ................ a team sport.

He approaches politics with the seriousness of a sports fan.

Don't look now, common, but you are the living, breathing proof of this theory.

Maybe Common is hoping to replace Sean Spicer?
