White House grapples with how to sell Trump's first 100 days

The first 100-day hallmark of a presidency is a journalistic invention where the success -- or lack thereof -- of an administration is judged based on what they were able to accomplish when their political power is at its highest.

The idea dates back to Franklin D. Roosevelt, who used the first 100 days to launch his New Deal, a sweeping plan of 15 bills to jump start the lagging economy.Since then, past presidents have been judged on the success of their first 100 days.

Former President Barack Obama used the time to pass the $787 billion economic stimulus package and to expand children's health insurance coverage.

Trump's first 100 days has lacked sweeping victories and has been most defined by the stinging legislative defeat thrust upon the White House when Republicans failed to rally support around their plan to repeal and replace the health care plan passed by Obama.

Well, trump spent more on travel in the first 100 days than any other president in history.

Maybe Sean spicer can make that sound heroic.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Re: White House grapples with how to sell Trump's first 100 days

If you are Team Trump, you sell that you got a conservative justice on the Supreme Court and that the economy continues to improve, and that you fired a couple of missiles at Syria.

The administration will pump their chests over some of the executive orders like Keystone, but that's small potatoes. Hardly stuff that makes a legendary president.

It'll be interesting to see once summer gets here and the shine of the new Trump presidency has worn off and people start focusing on summer vacation, whether Trump just lays low at Mar-A-Lago and tweets, or whether he quietly moves forward on tax reform and stuff like that.

I think you're going to see a lot of different United States of America over the next three, four, or eight years. - President Donald J. Trump

Many of the people voting for him were the ones who felt left behind in the recovery that still has many of them looking for good jobs. THAT should have been his top priority. Even tax reform (at least as how Trump posed it) is going to be a tough sell. We are ripe for some tax adjustments, but likely NOT on the grand scale that Trump proposed as there are too many deficit hawks in the GOP.
