Oh my... this is sure to send the left into a squealing tailspin!
Let the battle begin.
Mulvaney Set To Tell Agencies To Prep For Substantial Cuts
Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney is reportedly slated to send a letter to federal agencies later this week warning them to prep for substantial budget cuts. The guidance letterfalls in line with President Donald Trump’s March 13 executive order aimed at making the government leaner and more efficient, Axios first reported.
The order called on Mulvaney, a staunch fiscal conservative and former member of the House Freedom Caucus, to “propose a planto reorganize governmental functions and eliminate unnecessary agencies (as defined in section 551(1) of title 5, United States Code), components of agencies, and agency programs.”Trump’s budget called for historic cuts to a number of agencies — including a 31 percent cut to the Environmental Protection Agency, a 28 percent cut to the State Department and a 17.9 percentcut to the Department of Health and Human Services. While a number of the departments’ budgets would be slashed, the Department of Defense would see a 10 percent boost in spending.

Aside from posting funny faces, can you make a coherent argument about this?
Or, is it a case of 'I don't care if it's a good idea or not so long as it angers "the left '?
It seems as though your sole criteria for evaluating an action is whether or not it angers people that you hate.

Trump so far is good at signing EO's but NOT so good working with Congress.
His budget is NOT going to be as proposed even with a majority in BOTH houses. He can't get past even many in his own party -- fortunately !
Right now there is NO riding his coat tails for the mid-terms and depending on some of these actions (and lack of actions) there could be some big changes in those same mid-terms.

Of course, the Big Cheese will see NO CUTS !

I'm waiting for Mulvaney and his staff to perform some realistic audits and recommend cuts to the budget that supports the federal legislative branch and the continual overspending on weapons systems, materials, property upkeep, and other waste in the DoD.
I'm pretty sure they'll find some substantial savings there, that is if they're really serious about attacking really overblown budgets and waste of taxpayer dollars in the federal government. Unfortunately, from the actions they've taken so far cutting minuscule amounts from smaller agencies that are responsible for .0004% and less of the federal budget seems like merely window dressing.

All the talk of budget cuts by Trump, his Admin, and pundits ignore the fact that budgets are set by Congress. The President only suggests a budget. The actual budgets are drawn up and settled in Congress. The Prez then gets to sign it IF he wishes.
There is a LOT in the current suggested budget that is going to anger a lot of people (R-tribers included), so don't expect all the hype about it to come to pass. My prediction is IF a lot of these cuts take place the r-tribe will pay a significant price in the mid-terms.

The latest article about the mid-terms in The Hill tells of the shaky ground that the incumbemt R-tribers find themselves in.

If Mulvaney can eliminate redundant or out of date services and departments, more power to him.
But as Tenny notes, budgets are not the purview of the President and his administration, but of the House of Representatives.
So Trump can aim to cut what he wants, but unless he has a cooperative House, (which based on what we saw from the AHCA, he doesn't), he shouldn't bank on these proposed cuts becoming law anytime soon.

CNN is reporting that trump is on pace to spend more on travel in his first year than Obama did in eight.
Even trump supporters would have to agree that his profligate spending on himself stands in stark contrast to his call for belt tightening by the federal government. It appears hypocritical to this observer.
Can a trumper please explain why this is not an issue for them?
