"Donald's business had a very small staff," says journalist David Cay Johnston, author of The Making of Donald Trump. "And except for when he was in trouble with his bankers he was the absolute ruler of his business empire, which is not at all how the White House works."
"A lot of what Donald does is seat of the pants," Johnston says. "He contends he's a great negotiator. He's really not a great negotiator. He's just great at promoting the idea that he's a great negotiator."
This is really worth the read:

It all comes down to a simple question. Is Trump interested in learning?
The job of President is not like running his business. It is not like running his campaign.
And try as he might, Trump cannot change the job of president to be like running his business.
It just isn't going to happen.
So, it's learn & adapt, or fail.
The first month has been a yuge disaster, bigly.

I don't think it will sink in. The man has an enormous ego and with statements like "only I can fix it", it really reveals a LOT about his thinking and mentality.
