Don't forget Joe Manchin, the Democratic Senator from a state in which Trump won 68% of the vote.
He isn't going to go along with a filibuster.

When it comes to rebuilding democratic fortunes, I am unsure if the filibuster strategy will help or hurt.

I guess I look at politics in a simple 2 (or 4) year cycle. IF the candidate delivers for the bulk of the voters he/she will be re-elected. Trump agenda does not really have a lot of wiggle room. In that (at least as of now) he is probably the most disliked POTUS in recent history, he HAS to deliver for the people who elected him. Outside of the SCOTUS nomination which I believe ALL R-tribers will get behind, he still has a real uphill battle with how all his other "promises" will work out for all of America. Personally at this early juncture I see a lot more downside than upside.

Will it hurt the D-tribe to be total obstructionists for the next 4 years ?  Hard to tell. It did not seem to matter that the R-tribe basically did it for 8 years.

Re: Trump Nominates Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court

Just a little of what House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi had to say about the nomination of  Neil Gorsuch for the United States Supreme Court. She made the comments about an hour after the announcement.

“if you breathe air, drink water, eat food, take medicine, or in any other way, interact with the courts, this is a very bad decision.”

“a very hostile appointment” and “a very bad decision, well outside the mainstream of American legal thought.”

Re: Trump Nominates Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court

President Donald Trump’s nominee to succeed Justice Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court, Judge Neil Gorsuch, was confirmed by the Senate to his seat on the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals without a single dissenting vote.

Confirmed just two months after President George W. Bush submitted his name for the Senate’s consideration, not a single Democrat raised an objection to his confirmation in July 2006. He was approved on a voice vote.

Here’s a list of Democrats who supported Gorsuch’s confirmation
 Former President Barack Obama
Former Vice President Joe Biden
Former Sen. Harry Reid
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer
Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin
Sen.Dianne Feinstein, ranking member of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary
Sen. Maria Cantwell
Sen. Tom Carper
Sen. Patrick Leahy
Sen. Robert Menendez
Sen. Patty Murray
Sen. Bill Nelson
Sen. Jack Reed
Sen. Debbie Stabenow
Sen. Ron Wyden

In a stunning about face, at least one person on this list, Sen. Wyden of Oregon, announced he would oppose the nomination, and asserted Gorsuch “harkens back to the days when politicians restricted a people’s rights on a whim.” A handful of Democratic senators indicated they would attempt to stage a filibuster.“This is a stolen seat.

This is the first time a Senate majority has stolen a seat,” Merkley said. “We will use every lever in our power to stop this.”“A very large number of my colleagues will be opposed,” he added.

Well, Nancy doesn't get a vote on this, so no need to get in a twist

Just a great example of what a dim bulb she is! This is the false information going out to the dems.

Didn't republicans praise and vote for Judge Garland for DC Appeals, and then not let him even have hearings for SCOTUS?

A stunning about face indeed.

I read this morning that Rachel Maddow on her show last night that Gorsuch was the best we could hope for out of Trump. A mainstream conservative justice.

Obama's Solicitor General said last night that Gorsuch is the brightest American legal mind in the last 100 years.

I wonder if there are better fish to fry for the Dems than trying to filibuster Gorsuch?

I think the selection of Judge Gorsuch was great.  He is well respected in the legal community.

Far and away the best thing Trump has done so far.

Indeed .

True Political Hypocrisy. Any wonder Congress has such a public disdain.
