Watching the Show

Just watching the shitshow that is modern America in the wake of the Gorsuch nomination.

First, conservatives are rejoicing. And, frankly, acting a little relieved. I don't get it. From what I understand, Judge Gorsuch would have been on the short list for any Republican President. Are conservatives really that uncertain about Mr.Trump? From my perspective, every step that the man has taken since election day would reassure conservatives as much as they appall me in signalling a hard right turn.

Secondly, the media. I watched Morning Joe today while the hosts just gushed about how "Presidential" Trump was last night, in contrast to the disaster of the weekend. Sure, the ceremony went off smoothly. But Trump just walked up to the podium and introduced his pick. I mean, does that warrant gushing like he's a small puppy who has just learned to pee on the papers? The bar must be pretty low.

Yea, Trump managed to act like a reasonable Human Being for a few minutes. He announced his supreme court pick without saying anything offense to Muslims, or grabbing a woman by the crotch. Man, that is sooo Presidential. I guess that I am just not that into staging.

Re: Watching the Show

I caught that portion of MJ this morning and I think the discussion was beyond how Trump introduced his nominee and more around the end to end delivery of Gorsuch to the Senate, to the GOP base, to the media and the public in general.

I agree that perhaps some are cheering a little too hard for what is really just a basic function of being president.

But hey, I'm all for seeing Trump getting the easy stuff right.

I think you're going to see a lot of different United States of America over the next three, four, or eight years. - President Donald J. Trump

I could see The Show appealing to the simple folk, but a reporter?

The things that pass for journalism I can't understand.
