Trump's approval rating at 59%

Seems like he is doing pretty well one week in (admittedly not a great sample size).  I don't agree with a lot of things that he wants to do, but I do like the fact that he is quickly acting on a lot of his campaign promises.  We'll check back in in a couple of years.  I hope his actions have positive effects.

Re: Trump's approval rating at 59%

What were previous Presidents' numbers like at this point in their presidency?
It would be potentially enlightening to see this number in some context.

Sorry for being redundant:

Rasmussen . . . Historically, not the most accurate polling organization.

True.  And, Man is right about questioning the sample polled.

Re: Trump's approval rating at 59%

Hard to get a good read on this just yet. In looking at polls (which BTW turned out to be pretty bad during the election cycle) that have come out in the past week or two the Rasmussen Poll is far and away the highest.

I understand the reaction of the above to the Rasmussen Poll. Nate Silver who portends to be an avid pollster (even his predictions on the last election which were based on his own formula of all the national polls was WRONG), But that said, he uses historical averages of how the polls have done in predicting races and also rates their baiases. Here is analysis of ALL the major and some minor polls that are out there. Take it for what it might be worth.

Yup... If anything says Trump is succeeding or it will help the country that has to be wrong.
Fake news without a doubt!!!!  Just ask the news media.

I have noticed that you rarely, if ever discuss Trump's policy proposals, or defend his actions and statements.
Rather, you just mock his critics.

Why is that? Are you uninterested in policy and the country's direction, and content to view politics like a soccer match?
Are Trump's ideas so hard to defend?
What is it?

Re: Trump's approval rating at 59%

BTW, Quinnipiac has Trump at  36% approval.

Somehow I fear that common is going to suddenly lose his faith in polls.

Wink on, buddy.

You know, it might be enlightening to see how other presidents fared at this point in their terms, so that we might have an apples to apples comparison. If it doesn't upset common too much, that is.

Astute observation for ALL of us.

THAT is the only way to have actual meaningful dialogue. I know we all make snide remarks, but the ones that actually comment on the policies and actions using dialogue meaningful to the subject are the ones that ultimately will be seen as not just partisan hacks.

I have seen some posters take positions that have been on both sides of the political equation and those that only spout party lines. Nothing wrong with generally supporting one Party or another in general but being just political hacks is another. We have WAY too many "news organizations" that are just partisan politics machines. They live primarily on cable news and other alt-right and left websites.

I have made it pretty clear in recent posts that I no longer can associate with the current R-tribe and will take action once I am back in Pa to drop my R-tribe affiliation and become an Independent. I hate that it will leave me on the outside of the primary (and maybe I will re-think that), but I can no longer stand the current state of affairs in politics and don't really want to be associated with EITHER Party.

I'm curious, Common, what media outlets do you trust to give straightforward, honest, unbiased news?
