Dumbest Idea. Ever

It should be obvious to anyone that NO administration is a substitute for the press.
Let's see if it is.

House science chairman: 'Get your news directly from the president'

Washington (CNN)The chairman of the House Science, Space and Technology Committee is asking Americans to trust the information they get from the President over the news produced by the media.

Republican Rep. Lamar Smith saluted President Donald Trump from the floor of the House on Tuesday evening, rattling off his first-week accomplishments but saying Trump is not getting the press coverage he deserves.

"The national liberal media won't print that, or air it or post it," Smith said. "Better to get your news directly from the President. In fact, it might be the only way to get the unvarnished truth."

Trump has been called out for highlighting falsehoods and conspiracy theories during his political career and has repeatedly attacked the mainstream press as pushing "fake news."
The most recent flare-up came this week when Trump and his aides claimed that 3 to 5 million people voted illegally in the 2016 election, an allegation that is not supported by any evidence.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

I am a registered democrat, and never in my wildest dreams would I have trusted the Obama administration to be my news source. That isn't an administration's job.
I cannot believe that I even have to write this.

For a member of Congress to say something like that is absolutely appalling.
And, mark my words, some Trumper will weigh in to say it was a good idea,,,,,,

Yea, get your news from the government.
Works for North Korea

Another example of the trend that has gone on far too long of the congress acting like less of a separate branch of the government and more like a arm of the executive branch.

If anything drives us to a dictatorship, it will be this.

I think you're going to see a lot of different United States of America over the next three, four, or eight years. - President Donald J. Trump

That was a very astute observation.

Re: Dumbest Idea. Ever

Oh, he's getting the press coverage he deserves--the media is doing a stellar job reporting on Trump's lies, the falsehoods, the conspiracies theories and all the dumb things he says and is telling us what he wants to do.  Only problem there is Trump in particular is unable to distinguish between the truth and the lies and now it appears he's not alone in the administration.

Re: Dumbest Idea. Ever

What an asinine statement !

That is the last straw for me. I can no longer be a part of the Republican Party. When I am back I am changing my registration.

I cannot believe what they have become.
