An authoritarian regime must control the flow of information.
A well-informed citizenry is much more difficult to dupe and enslave.

I was curious as to the reference to "The Beach Team" in the purported memo. Apparently, there is a group of operatives assigned by the Trump administration that go to various agencies and departments as a "landing team" to scour the "beach". An obvious military reference akin to the Normandy invasion.
(”Beach team” refers to staffers for the new administration working at the various agencies while new leadership is put in place; “OPA” most likely refers to the “Office of Public Affairs.”)
So, it appears as though the Trumpian attitude towards these departments and agencies is that they require an invasion philosophy on the part of the new administration to get them in line with the program while forcing employees to give up their constitutional right of freedom of speech.
It's not that I don't think there is room for improvement in some agencies and departments, but taking a militaristic approach prior to learning about the organization seems to me to be a bit rash and may prove to be counterproductive. Especially when one considers Generalisimo Trump's military expertise.
It's going to be an interesting 4 years.
Also one should note that political appointees now seem to have veto power as to what scientific information may be disseminated.
This is the most troubling thing that I have seen so far.
It is fascistic. And that is not an exaggeration.

That didn't take long.

Giving government back to the people by micromanaging every last tweet......
In a memo sent out to staff at the Environmental Protection Agency, the Trump Administration has prohibited press releases, social media postings, blog posts or new content placed on the agency’s website.
I can only assume that this will be expanded to other areas of the government.
This is messed up.
So are you saying that a Federal Government Agency should be able to post what ever they feel like?
Never mind the polices of the current administration? Would the Obama administration have allowed a government agency to post items or tweet information that went against their official policies. Of course it would not be allowed.
The new administration is changing many policies that the Obama administration supported and all the Federal Government will now have to support the policies of the Trump administration. There is nothing unusual about this.
The individual people working for the government can have their opinions on issues but they will have to support the administration policies while at work.

Do you have any evidence of the Obama administration imposing such a ban?
