Really Sad

George Herbert Walker Bush appears to be seriously ill.

I offer my best wishes and prayers to him and his family.

Something really upsetting happened when I posted this on Facebook. The second comment was from a woman I do not know. She chided me, writing, "How can you wish him well? He's one of the people destroying this country".

Unbelievable. GB, who after Pearl Harbor postponed college and a life of privilege to enlist in the Navy. He became the youngest aviator in the navy, and earned the DFC. I don't know how many combat missions he flew, but it was more Than this clown on FB did.

After the war Bush spent a lifetime in public service.

Are our politics so toxic that we cannot honor and care about a 92 year old war hero and decent man?

I am sick about this. F you, extremists of both sides!

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Re: Really Sad

It appears Barbara is in the hospital as well.

I offer my best wishes to the family as well, hopefully they both recover.  I always liked Bush Sr. and Barbara, came across as good people

There are many toxic swamps in need of draining.

The most fetid has been festering for 16+ years.

I'm praying that the healing begins on Friday....even if it takes four years.

We must once again become "one nation, under God".

It would be great IF we could become a UNITED states.

I hope you are correct, but not expecting it will happen. It will take not only a unifying message from our POTUS but also a unifying message from our political pundits and political representatives. Till we decide to elect people who CAN WORK TOGETHER, then expect more of the same.

WE hold the power, but don't want to wield it because we don't want to live outside our own "bubbles" of how things should work vs seeing it from someone else's perspective.

Re: Really Sad

I'd be surprised if I saw any evidence of healing in Washington this weekend.
